IRT 3 5 1 Drill



Here is the layout for the IRT 3 5 1 Firearm Drill. This is a handgun and Rifle Drill involving Speed Reloads and Tactical Reloads combined with Combative Drills, Movement, timed and under pressure.



3 5 1 Drill.

Items Needed:

Handgun or Rifle with 3 magazines. 18 rounds of ammunition.  Cramerton (NC) PD Modified B-27 Photo Target or equivalent plus hostage target or steel equivalent. All stages shot in continuous motion while timed.

Process: Load one Magazine 3 rounds. 2nd Magazine 8 rounds 1st position, Third Magazine 7 rounds 2nd position in holster or vest.

Note you will have 6 rounds left at the end in the firearm and inserted Magazine. 3 rounds left in your stored Magazine after Tactical Reload for a total of 9 rounds on your person.  To complete the drill you must have this configuration at the end: 1 empty Magazine on the ground at the 5 yard line. 1 Magazine on your person with 3 rounds and 6 rounds at the end in the firearm, 5 in the Magazine and 1 in the chamber.  If you do not it is a 2 second penalty.

Cramerton (NC) PD Modified B-27 Photo Target or equivalent plus hostage target or steel equivalent. All stages shot in continuous motion while timed.


Starting: 5 Yard Line

1. Hammer Drill (2 shots to body)    separated and 1 shot to Head)

Followed by Speed Reload. 

2. Zipper Drill (5 shots starting at 3 pelvis and riding recoil to the head)

Moving To: 8 Yard Line

Moving to Barricade (must say moving DQ if you don’t)

Followed by Tactical Reload behind barricade

3. 1 Shot to Hostage target either steel or paper.  Any hostage or designated steel target is sufficient.



8 shots total

Timed: 
Low Ready Grand Master: 11 seconds, Protector: 12 seconds, Advanced 13, In Progress: 14+

Holstered Grand Master: 12 seconds, Protector: 13 seconds, Advanced 14, In Progess: 15+

Rifle scored from Low Ready equal times to Low Ready handgun.

Target: Cramerton (NC) PD Modified B-27 Photo Target, Hostage target or steal equivalent

Accuracy = all shots except for lowest pelvis and head shots must be at least in the 7 zone. Pelvis shots in the designated pelvis area. Head shots in the designated head area. Hostage shots in the designated hostage taker head.

Scoring

All shots must be in correct zone. 2 second penalty for any missed shot. If you do not say Moving 1 second penalty.

This is a Combative, timed drill with Movement.  It is designed to also incorporate speed and tactical reloads following instructions, knowledge and awareness of ammunition used and on your person.
